Penguin Walk is a great way for your child to enjoy a walk after school to the park every day.
An alternative to picking up your child in front of the school is to have them picked up at Kelly Park West. Having established a great partnership with Parks and Recreation, students have an opportunity to walk to the park grounds all the while being supervised.
A map of Penguin Walk may be helpful to visualize afternoon procedures.
Every Friday a dessert food truck will be at Penguin Walk at dismissal (~2:15 pm). They will be parked in the playground/tennis court parking lot of Kelly Park West. A portion of the proceeds are donated back to our school. What a “cool” way to end the day!
Afternoon Walk
Students must be signed up through the front office to use the Penguin Walk option in the afternoon as there are additional responsibilities and conditions for participation. Students will be walked by school staff and volunteers from the P.E. pavilion through Kelly Park West to in front of the concession stands in the soccer fields. Students and staff arrive approximately 10 minutes after school release (3:40 on M, T, W, R or 2:25 on F). Students will be held there with their baggage until retrieved by an authorized adult with a placard for each student. School personnel and all students not picked-up will return to the school by 25 minutes after the dismissal bell (3:55 on M, T, W, R or 2:40 on F). Any student returned to the front office will be checked into aftercare with the appropriate fees applied for daily drop-ins.
Canceling Because of Weather
Every effort is made to conduct Penguin Walk, however, on occasion, it must be canceled due to inclement weather or other circumstances. You will receive a message if Penguin Walk is canceled.
