Here is what is happening at Stevenson:

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Presented by R.L. Stevenson’s 1st & 2nd Grade Classes: Spring Sensation: Squirm! There are two show times: Friday, April 12th at 9:30AM & Friday, April 12th at 12:30PM. Tickets have sold out for both shows. If you have not secured a seat, please add your name to the waitlist and we will do our best to get you in: https://forms.gle/bfHo8iWwLDj3APY99.

  • Bring Your Child to Work Day is April 25th. It is designed to show children the value of education, help them discover the possibilities of work & family life, and give girls and boys a chance to share how they envision the future. Student absences will be excused with a note.

  • Staff Appreciation Week is coming up on May 6th – 10th. More details will be emailed out.

  • The next Book Fair dates are May 6th – 10th. Mrs. Monroe will send out a volunteer sign up. 

  • Evening with the Arts: A Symphony of Sight and Sound is scheduled for Thursday, May 9th at 4:30 pm. This performance will showcase the artwork of all our students and the performances of all our string orchestra, concert band, and concert choir ensembles in Grades 3 – 6. A Paint & Take ceramic craft will be available for $5 (cash only) and with each purchase you will receive an art project.

  • The Kindergarten Show is scheduled for Friday, May 17th at 9:30 am. Tickets will be available online starting mid-April. Please note due to limited seating and having only one show each student will be limited to two tickets.   • Grade Level Awards and Picnics Dates: Kindergarten & 1st – Tuesday, May 21, 2nd & 3rd – Wednesday, May 22, 4th & 5th – Thursday, May 23, 6th – Monday, May 20. 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony – Friday, May 24.

  • Please Remember Wednesday, May 22, Thursday, May 23 AND Friday, May 24 are Early Release Days!

  • Stumpy’s Fundraiser: Join us for a FUNdraising evening at Stumpy’s in Cocoa Village on May 23rd @ 6-8 pm! 25% of sales will be donated to Stevenson. Buy your tickets here: https://sevn.ly/xaOWVHNu.
  • Grade Level Hosted Lunch:  Each month a different grade level provides lunch to the Stevenson Staff as a way of showing appreciation. We are serving around 60 people. Everything should be dropped off and set up 30-45 minutes prior to the first lunch. Then everything should be cleaned up after the last lunch, around 1:00 pm. Lunch will be provided by Kindergarten Families on April 18th.
  • Friday’s Treats at Kelly Park after Penguin Walk: The Beach Bums Sweet Treats truck will be at the playground at Kelly Park after school on Fridays. They each donate 15% back to Stevenson. So, come enjoy the park and a treat with friends after school!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Art Volunteers: There are volunteer opportunities in the art room with Mrs. Sonberg! So far this school year our students have created over 3,500 pieces of artwork! Volunteers are needed to help upload the artwork to Artsonia. Looking for Volunteers on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9-11 am. Reach out to Mrs. Sonberg if interested.

  • Stepping Stones: RLS will host our new incoming Kindergarten families for a ‘Stepping Stones’ event to welcome them to RLS and introduce them to the Kindergarten classes for the upcoming school year. Students in Kinder, 1st, and 2nd (Our rising 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders) will also be stepping up to experience their new grade level for a morning as well! Fifth grade students (rising 6th graders) will become buddies with the incoming kindergarten students. Volunteers are needed to help with registration, greeting the new families, and traffic flow between the classes. Look out for a Sign-up for all opportunities.

  • Car Loop Sign up: Our car loop procedure has reduced traffic in the neighborhood, and North Banana River drive. In order to keep this program going we need volunteers.
